Ringwood group wants Gov. Murphy to tour Superfund site, get involved
RINGWOOD — Gov. Phil Murphy needs to take a tour of the Ringwood Mines Superfund site before major remediation work begins next year, say members of its community advisory group.
The group sent a letter to the governor last week encouraging him, First Lady Tammy Snyder Murphy and DEP acting commissioner Catherine R. McCabe, to visit the former Ford Motor Company dump in northern Ringwood to see its environmental impact firsthand. Members are seeking support from the governor and commissioner, who has a background in enforcement on toxic sites, for remediation activities that go beyond the current scope and scale.
